Obituary for Katye Will Apple

June 1, 1933-March 3, 2023

Katye Apple passed away early in the morning of March 3, 2023 at the age of 89.   She died peacefully at Richardson Methodist Hospital after suffering the effects of a recent stroke.  Katye is survived by her two daughters, Anne and Susan Apple; her son Jeff Apple and his wife Trudy; and her sister Linda Sitarski in Junction City, AR.   She had two grandchildren, Denton and Alice Apple, who live in Austin, TX. Her honorary grandson, Scott Lockwood lives in Flower Mound, TX and is the son of Michael and Beth Lockwood.

Katye was born in Warren, AR and graduated from Junction City High School.  She moved to Ft. Worth, TX after high school and lived with her sister Helen. It was in Ft. Worth that she met her future husband Morris Lenwood Apple.  Morris and Katye were married in 1953 and were married for over 61 years until his passing in 2014. They had three children and raised them in Garland, TX.   All three children graduated from South Garland High School and went on to college.   Katye spent most of her time with the children and Morris, at her church Orchard Hills Baptist, sewing, gardening and cooking.   She loved to cook and became an excellent maker of homemade bread, desserts and pastries.   Her passions in life were her husband and children, reading, and teaching herself new things. She taught herself photography and won awards at the Texas State Fair. She had a very curious mind and read deeply.

Katye was known for her quick wit, her deep intellect and passion for reading, and her love of her husband and children. She was a doting grandmother.  Her two daughters still live in the Dallas area and her son lives in Austin,TX.

Katye lived most of her life in Garland, TX where she raised her children.  At the time of her passing she resided in Colonial Oaks Assisted Living.   The Apple family is very grateful for the kindness and support of Colonial Oaks for the last two years.

There will be a graveside memorial service for family members at the Dallas Ft. Worth National Cemetery on March 20 at 10:30 am. Her ashes will be buried above her husband, Morris. If you so wish, floral arrangements may be sent to Colonial Oaks Assisted-Living on Campbell Road in Garland, TX for distribution to the residents.
