Joseph Charles Konecny, 84, of Garland, Texas, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, with his daughter Stephanie by his side.

Joe was born on June 2, 1939, to John and Nora Konecny in Stuttgart, Arkansas. He grew up a farm boy and was the 8th of 9 children. He graduated from Stuttgart High School in 1957. Joe moved to Dallas, Texas in January 1960. He worked for Safeway for 11 years. He also served in the Army National Guard for 5 years. After leaving Safeway, Joe became a long-haul truck driver. He traveled the United States and Canada. He retired from J.B. Hunt in December of 2005.

Joe met the love of his life Joyce in Dallas and married on April 18, 1963. They enjoyed traveling in their younger years. In July 1971, they bought their first home in Garland, Texas. Joe and Joyce went on to have two children, Stephanie and Stacie.

After retiring, Joe enjoyed being outside camping and hunting at his deer lease. He also loved helping others, you could often find him mowing the lawns of several neighbors and he was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Joe also enjoyed spending time with his two grandchildren, Leona and Connor. He loved teaching them his hobbies and watching them grow up. Joe will be deeply missed.

Joe was preceded in death by his daughter, Stacie; his parents, John and Nora Konecny; 3 brothers, Sylvester, Leonard, and John (Nip); 4 sisters, Christina, Helen, Sister Jolitta, and Bridget. He is survived by his wife, Joyce; daughter, Stephanie; grandchildren, Leona and Connor; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Slovak, Arkansas on Monday, June 10, 2024. Visitation will be held at 10AM followed by the Rosary and Funeral Mass at 11AM.
