John Richard Urquhart, [80], of Garland, TX, passed away due to Alzheimer's on November 25th, 2023, surrounded by his family.

John is survived by his daughters, Sheila Rogers and spouse Ed Trachier, Janice Maxie and spouse Amos Maxie; brother, Wiley Urquhart and spouse Peggy; grandchildren Hayley Norton, Elle Rogers, and Gage Rogers.  He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Patsy Ann (Haynes) Urquhart; parents Wiley Urquhart Sr. and Anna Edna (Doran) Urquhart; and brother Phil Urquhart.

John was born in Beaumont, Texas, and was given the nickname "Butch" by one of the nurses at the hospital, which stuck for most of his school years in Big Sandy, TX.  Aside from his love of the Dallas Cowboys, John was passionate about his family.  He loved being social, attending sporting events and church, and always enjoyed great food at various restaurants.

John's family will host a funeral service on Thursday, November 30th at Williams Funeral Directors in Garland, TX.  Visitation for family and friends will be at 9:30 am and the funeral service will be at 10:30 am.  There will also be a graveside service at Chilton Cemetery in Big Sandy, TX at 3:00 pm for those who would like to attend.
