Obituary

John Grady Gardner Jr., 84, of Garland, Texas went  to be with the Lord on February 20, 2024 at his home in Garland, Texas. He was Born in Terrell, Texas on July 31, 1939 to proud parents Grady and Faye Gardner. He spent his early years in Bonham and later moved with his family to Dallas, Texas.  He attended Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas where he played baseball and involved in Dallas Golden Gloves Boxing. After high school he went on to and Graduated from Texas Tech University with a business degree where he met his future
wife, Nancy. They went on to be married on September 3, 1962 and have two children; John David and Melissa.  John started working at Montgomery Wards after graduating from college and then worked at General Dynamics in Ft. Worth for a few years before going to E-Systems in Garland where he spent the next 25 years working as a procurement buyer. He retired in 1998. John had many hobbies, including bass fishing – he was in fishing clubs through Mid-cities Anglers and E- Systems/Raytheon. He was also an avid runner (over 25 marathons, 25 half-marathons, over 25 biathlons). He was a Christian man who Loved the Lord and called First Baptist Church of Garland his home for many years.

John is survived by his son, John David Gardner and wife Susan of Rockwall; daughter, Melissa
Gardner of Denver, Colorado; Grandchildren, Elizabeth Gardner of Farmer's Branch, Stephanie Urso and husband
John of Kaufman, Lindsay Gardner of Rockwall, Chad Gardner of Rockwall, and Joy Gardner of Denver, Co.
