John Olen Burns, born December 14, 1947, in Houston, Texas, passed away on November 11, 2025, in Garland, Texas. He was 77 years old.

John's early years were spent in Pasadena, where he attended Pasadena High School. His academic journey led him to Vanderbilt University, where he earned a degree in engineering—a field that would shape much of his professional life.

John was a devoted husband to his wife, Dianna Burns. Together they built a life grounded in love and shared experiences. He was also a cherished father to Robin Malone and her husband Matt Malone, and to Kevin Burns and daughters in law Ginny Burns and Julie Burns. John's legacy continues through his grandchildren—Mason Burns, Kylie Hall, Grayson Malone, Hayes Malone, Luke Malone, and Aleta Burns—and great granddaughter Freya Hall. He is also remembered by his brother Thomas Burns. He was preceded in death by his parents, Martha Brown Burns and Chester Burns, as well as his beloved son Chet Burns.

John's life was marked by dedication to both family and profession. His contributions as an engineer reflected not only technical skill but also a thoughtful approach to problem solving and innovation.
