Jesse Garza

1947-2023

Jesse G. Garza passed away on Monday, August 21, 2023 in Garland, Texas.  He was born on March 31, 1947 in Dallas, Texas. Jesse grew up in Mesquite, Texas, where he lived until he joined the United States Air Force in 1965, serving a tour in the Vietnam War, before separating from the Air Force in December of 1968.

Jesse's Air Force awards include the Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, the Air Force Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, the Air Force Good Conduct Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal

Jesse stayed in Dallas, Texas with his family after his honorable discharge, where his two sons were born, and then moved to Seattle, Washington in 1974 to live with his family.  Jesse worked hard to provide for his family and was an active and positive influence on his two sons.  After two decades in Seattle, he moved back to Dallas, Texas in 1994 to be closer to his parents and brothers while often visiting his sons and grandchildren traveling to Seattle, Washington, Phoenix, Arizona, and Washington, DC.  Jesse worked security in the hospitality industry for the past three decades and retired from his 19 year tenure with Hilton Anatole in 2019.  When he was younger, he loved riding his motorcycle and working on it during the weekends.  More recently, he loved relaxing and watching his vast DVD collection, his favorite genre being action films.

Jesse is survived by his two sons, Jason Garza, a tattoo artist living and working in Tacoma, WA, and Chad Garza, an Army Warrant Officer 4, currently stationed at Fort George G. Meade, Maryland.  He is also survived by his two grandchildren, Juniper Garza, and Ezekiel Garza, his mother Anita Reyes, and his five brothers, Pete, Robert, and Larry Garza, and Augustine and Anthony Reyes and his two grand-puppies, Krixi and Mako.  He was preceded in death by his father Guadalupe Garza.

Jesse will travel with his sons to Seattle, Washington, the city he loved, and will find his final resting place on the slopes of Mount Rainier.
