James Loyd
Watson
Aug 29, 1930 — Jan 6, 2026
Garland
James Loyd Watson was born on August 29, 1930, in Rockwall, Texas, to Leonard and Mary Watson. On November 18, 1951, he married the love of his life, Verbel Monk, beginning a 64‑year marriage built on devotion, partnership, and deep family roots.
James was a wonderful father, grandfather, and great‑grandfather whose steady presence and gentle heart enriched the lives of all who knew him. Family was at the center of everything he did, and his legacy lives on through the generations he lovingly guided.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother; his brother, Charles; his sister, Mary; his son‑in‑law, Jimmy Talley; his grandson, Mark Allred; his great‑grandson, Chandler Allred; and his beloved wife, Verbel Watson.
James is survived by his daughters, Doris Yancey and her husband Bill, and Judy Talley, both of Garland, Texas; his son, Steve Watson, and his wife Moné of Rockwall, Texas; along with seven grandchildren and their spouses, and sixteen great‑grandchildren, each of whom carries forward his memory with love and gratitude.
James will be remembered for his quiet strength, his devotion to family, and the lasting impact of a life well lived.
Scripture
"Where, O death, is your victory?
Where, O death, is your sting?"
But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
