James Edward Hoegger, 62, of Garland, Texas, passed away on Monday, July 20, 2026, in Garland, TX.

James was born in Pontiac, Illinois to Winifred Ellen (Turner) and James Donald Hoegger, January 3, 1964. James graduated from South Garland High School in 1982. He dedicated many years of his early life working in construction and more recently as a heavy equipment mechanic for the City of Dallas for 17 years until he retired in 2026.

He is preceded in death by his mother, father, and brother-in-law Paul Carver of Terrell, TX.

He is survived by his wife, Cathy Ann (Goode) Hoegger of Edgewood, TX. Stepson Justin Barrett and granddaughter Brynlee.

He is survived by his sister Mary Ellen Carver of Terrell, TX; his sister Denise Davis and husband Chip of Mountainburg, AR; brother Paul and wife Penny of Sachse, TX; his brother Jude and his wife, Kim of Mesquite, TX; his brother David of Garland, TX; his sister Teresa Wolfe and husband Robert of Forney, TX; as well as many nieces and nephews who he frequently gave endearing nicknames.

James had a wide, adaptable skill set and never hesitated to jump in and help fix anything and everything. He was always willing to help anyone. He had a big heart and a very hard working, generous spirit and will be missed dearly by his family and all those who knew him.

A family gathering will be held on Thursday, July 30th 5-8 pm at Williams Funeral Directors at 1600 S Garland Avenue, Garland, TX 75040.
