Iris Eugenia Baker Ramsey was born April 17, 1933 in Brownsville, Texas to parents, James Bryan and Velma Julia Baker and passed from this life on February 14, 2025. Iris was preceded in death by her parents and husband Johnny Ramsey. She is survived by her three brothers and their wives; Jay and Julia Baker, Curtis and Judy Baker, Bob and Frances Baker as well as her children; Mark Ramsey and wife Rita, Beth Gilzean, Dan Ramsey, Julie Hope and husband Ken; her grandchildren: Jason Savage, Daniel Hope and wife Heather, Amy McCay and husband Bryan, Bryan Savage, Amber Hope, Jacob Ramsey, Zac Ramsey and wife Audrey, Amanda Hope, Hannah Troegle and husband Josh; her great-grandchildren: Cameron Miller and wife Kadde, Haven Hope, Brady Savage, Cade McCay, Brooke Savage, Pierce Hope, Jack Troegle, Cason McCay, Brett Troegle, as well as great-great grandson due August 2025. Iris is also survived by a great host of special friends and extended family.

Iris grew up in Alice, Texas in a loving, godly home and enjoyed telling stories of her wonderful childhood memories. The picnics and simple family outings always brought happiness to her heart. She often recalled times when she, as the bossy older sister, attempted to get her mischievous brothers under control. Iris graduated as Salutatorian from Alice High School in 1951 before continuing her education at Abilene Christian College where she was selected as a freshman ACC beauty. She met the love of her life, Johnny Ramsey, during her freshman year and they married on July 1, 1952. For 54 years Johnny and Iris traveled the world spreading the gospel and influencing others to live for Him. They lived in over 6 states and as missionaries in Australia. Iris recently counted  43 different houses she had lived in over the 54 years of marriage and attributed this to her ability to adapt and her lack of desire for material possessions.

Iris's greatest legacy is one of service and self-sacrifice. Her genuine love for others, her concern and compassion for all, is an inspiration for all to imitate. She provided constant support for family and friends and continued to encourage everyone to live the Christian life with purpose and dedication.
