Harry Breitbarth, a dedicated Certified Public Accountant for over 65 years, passed away at the age of 97 on Monday, May 11, 2026, surrounded by his loving friends and family. Born on October 7, 1928, in Newark, New Jersey, Harry was the only child of Emanuel and Bernice Morchower Breitbarth, immigrants who instilled in him a strong work ethic and family values.

Growing up in the Bronx, Harry helped his parents with their grocery store in Harlem. He later moved to Dallas to attend Southern Methodist University, where he graduated with a degree in Accounting in 1950. It was in Dallas that he met Carol Schwartz, whom he married on June 7, 1959, after a long-distance courtship.

Harry's career as a CPA was marked by his unwavering commitment to his clients, family, and friends. He never retired, continuing to practice and renew his CPA license annually. His passion for accounting was matched by his love for sports, particularly the New York Yankees.

Harry is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 67 years, Carol, his children Ilene Breitbarth and Andrea (Steven) Solka, and his cherished grandchildren Matthew (Yana) Solka and Drew Solka. He was also a proud great-grandfather to Noah Solka and a grandfather figure to his cousins Morris (Brittney) Thompson and Michael Thompson.

The Breitbarth family extends their gratitude to The Legacy Midtown Park and Manchester Care Homes for their exceptional care. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 14th at Shearith Israel Cemetery, followed by a Memorial Service and Shiva Minyan at Congregation Shearith Israel in Dallas.
