Ha Tran
December 2, 1955 - February 20, 2025

Ha Tran was born on December 2, 1955, in Saigon, Vietnam to parents Van Ngoc Nguyen and Phuong Thi Tran as the fourth child of a large and loving family. She passed from this life at the age of 69 on February 20, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.

Ha was the loving wife of Ly Tran, with whom she shared 51 wonderful years. Their adventure began in September of 1970 while Ha was attending school at Nu Trung Hoc Qui Nhon and Ly was stationed nearby serving in the South Vietnamese Army. They caught each other's eye and began writing and exchanging notes back and forth with one of Ha's cousins serving as their messenger. Soon after, the pair finally met and talked face to face at Ha's older sister Mai's house where the courtship continued. Through tumultuous times with the impending war serving as the backdrop for their love story, they got married on September 6, 1973, and settled in Qui Nhon living right next door to Ha's parents.

The young couple had their son Thien in December of 1974 and enjoyed doting on him and spending time with family and friends until the fall of Saigon in April of 1975. With their small child in tow and only a few personal belongings, they hastily left their home country from Saigon and were able to escape onto a small Navy boat much to the thanks of Ha's brother-in-law Vinh. Along with many of Ha's family members, they traveled to the Philippines and then transferred to a larger ship headed to Guam where they stayed at a refugee camp called "Tent City". During their month-long stay there, Ha felt ill with what she thought was a cold. The lingering illness brought her to the camp medic where she surprisingly discovered she was pregnant with her second child.

They next traveled by plane to Indiantown Gap in Pennsylvania where they stayed in the refugee camp there for two months. Adjusting to life in a new country was difficult but made easier by being surrounded by family and other refugees. They eventually moved to Lancaster, PA where their daughter Sisi was born on January 1, 1976. There they received much kindness and help from members of the local Methodist church. Ly and Ha then spent a few years in Warminster, PA before heading to Fort Worth, TX where they had discovered that some of Ly's siblings had been living. Ha worked as a sewing contractor from home while caring for her two young children. In 1980, they moved to Mesquite, TX before finally moving to their forever home in Garland in 1981. In their new home, Ha found out she was pregnant with their third child Lele who was born in March of 1982.

Ha was always a dedicated homemaker and diligent employee. She excelled at everything she did from sewing contractor, to circuit board inspector, to hairstylist, to her unofficial jobs of being a chef, therapist, problem solver, makeup artist, stylist, crafter, and the list goes on and on. Ask anyone that knew Ha and they will tell you that she knew how to do anything and everything and do it all well. She was a constant source of light and joy even to those she just met. She could easily strike up a conversation with a stranger and find out all about their life. Ha had a warmth and ease about her that made you feel like you had been friends for years.

Ha was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and aunt and always worked hard in all facets of her life to make sure her family was taken care of. Ha's generosity and selflessness was unmatched. Ly will tell you that she was and is the most beautiful and perfect woman and her children and grandchildren would all heartily agree. A fond memory from her daughters is that Ha was frequently mistaken for being their sister during their shopping trips together. She would giggle and proudly point to her daughters and tell the person that they were her second and third children of three much to the amazement of the person. Ha retired in 2020 giving her more time to discover and try out new recipes and cute crafts to the delight of her family. One Christmas, she made a delicious tiramisu from scratch for the first time and also handmade each of her six grandchildren a little snowman to match each child's personality.

Ha is survived by her father, Van Ngoc Nguyen; husband, Ly Van Tran; son, Thien Tran; grandsons, Brant and Brody Tran; daughter, Sisi Baiani; son-in-law, Waheed Baiani; grandson, Noah Baiani; granddaughter, Isabella Baiani; daughter, Lele Crim; son-in-law, Stephen Crim; grandsons, Henry and Simon Crim; and a host of extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her mother, Phuong Thi Tran; and older brother, Son Dai Nguyen.

Visitation will be on Sunday, March 23rd from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Williams Funeral Home in Garland in the Bluebonnet Hall. A Funeral Mass will take place on Monday, March 24th at 1:30 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Richardson. A rosary prayer service will take place at 1:00 PM prior to the Funeral Mass for those that would like to attend. The family appreciates your kindness and support during this time.
