GRACELEE MARSHALL MORAN J ul y 7, 1 938- Ja n uary 3, 2 0 23

Gracelee Moran passed away on January 3, 2023.   She was born on July 7, 1938, at the original St. Paul Hospital located at Hall and Bryan Streets in Dallas, Texas.  She is preceded in death by her parents Leonard and Allie Hart Marshall, and sisters, Bettye Bell and Joyce Ann Wiser.  She is survived by daughter Lee Ann and Rick Hooper, grandson Ryan Henry and wife, Rachel; granddaughter  Amber Cox; three great granddaughters  -- Natalie,  Brittney & Valarie; two great grandsons -- Bryce & Brennan; one great, great granddaughter - Aleia; two great, great grandsons- Mateo and Braylen; nephew Les Bell and wife Pam; niece Brenda Wiser, several cousins,  longtime  friend  Ken  Meyer; several  loyal  work  and  school  friends  and  wonderful, caring neighbors, Jessie and Maria Como.

Grace, along with two cousins, are the last Marshall descendants of the first settlers to the Garland area from Tennessee.   Her great grandfather, Harry Briley, owned a large farm at the corner of Garland Ave. and Shiloh Rd.   Mr. Briley sold the farm to Safeway Foods in 1948, which became Safeway Store Warehouse and General Motors Training Center.   Grandparents, H.H. and Hollie Marshall bought 1000 aces and farmed on Gus Thomason Rd. in Mesquite until 1955, later selling the acreage to Ben Tisnger for the development of homes and a small strip mall a portion of which Ponchos' Restaurant now occupies.   Grace saw many changes growing up in the Casa Linda and the White Rock area.   She attended schools in White Rock area and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1956.    Leisure times were spent renting bicycles at Winfrey Point and riding John Williams' Chris Craft boats for $1.50 per ride across White Rock Lake.

Grace held various office positions.    She was a repair clerk at General Telephone in Garland before the birth of her daughter, Lee Ann in 1961.  She gained knowledge from learning phone work and received recognition by having her picture in the General Telephone paper for the most telephone extensions sold in a month.  She also worked part time at Neiman Marcus for years and that became her tenure for 23 years, winning an incentive award for stopping some large fraud orders from leaving Neiman's mail order store.

Grace loved the Lord and talked to him daily.  She and her sister Joyce were baptized in 1950 at Peak and Eastside Church of Christ in Dallas.  She will be laid to rest in the Marshall family plot  in the far-east  Masonic part of  Garland  Cemetery  on  Miller and  Garland  Road, Garland, Texas.

Visitation will be 2 hours before the grave-side service, which will be conducted by Glen Mize.
