Obituary

George (“Bud”) W. Snyder, age 79, of Richardson, Texas passed away peacefully on June 28, 2026 surrounded by his family and loved ones. Born in Phoenix, Arizona on September 30, 1946, George was the son of the late George William Snyder and Mary Patricia (Albrewczynski) Snyder. He grew up in Erie, Pennsylvania and attended Academy High School.

George proudly served the United States Air Force, dedicating 28 years to his country and retiring with a distinction as a Chief Master Sergeant. Throughout his distinguished career, he upheld the Air Force’s core values—Integrity First, Service Before Self, and Excellence in All We Do. His leadership reflected his strength of character, integrity, his deep commitment to the Airmen he mentored, and his unwavering sense of duty. If his Airmen needed something—even late in the evening—George would return to the base to ensure they had what they needed. His devotion to those he led was a defining part of his service and a testament to the leader he was. He continued his friendship with his former supervisor, Master Sergeant Gerald (“Buckie”) Buckland throughout the remainder of his career and beyond into civilian life, a bond built on mutual respect and shared service.

He was preceded in death by his son Jeffrey J. Snyder; his parents; his brothers Richard and Denis Snyder; and his sister Lorie Garber. He is survived by his devoted wife Geraldine Snyder, his beloved daughter Kristen Snyder, his sister Karen Weaver, and several nieces and nephews. George was known to be an avid baseball player, sharing countless games and memories with his two best buddies, Butch Bieliski and Jack Hanke. Their friendship remained strong throughout his life. George will be dearly missed and always remembered by all who knew him.
