Floyd Earl Green was born to Robert and Vera Green on November 28, 1931.  He is preceded in death by both of his parents, 2 siblings, Bobby Green in 1943 and Nancy Denny in 2005, son-in-law Lindsey Gonnett in 2017 and by his wife Virginia Lynn Green in 2010.

He is survived by his daughter Donna Lynn Gonnett of Garland, his grandchildren Jennifer Gonnett and Matthew Gonnett of Mesquite, his sister Freeda Caudle of Garland, 2 nieces, 4 nephews, 3 great-nieces, 4 great nephews and 3 great-great nephews and nieces.

He was born in Gooseneck, Texas , a small community in Hunt County and spent his childhood growing up in Cash, Lone Oak and Quinlan.

He worked for the state highway department in Hunt County, which was his first job after graduating from Quinlan High School in 1949.

He was drafted into the Army in 1951 at the time of the Korean War.  He trained in Rapid City North Dakota in Communications.  After 2 yers in the Army he came home and worked for Temco in Greenville, and later transferred to Garland when Temco merged with LTV.

He met the love of his life Virginia Prock and was married in Oklahoma on September 1, 1956.  They moved to Garland and 3 years later they had their only child Donna Lynn in 1959.

He was an Engineering Department head until his retirement at the age of 65.

He was a member of the Orchard Hills Baptist Church and later transferred to Lakepoint Baptist in Rockwall.

He became a member of the Mesquite Masonic Lodge #928 in 1974 and joined the Mesquite Chapter #887, Order of the Eastern Star in  August of that year.  He served as Worthy Patron 5 times as well as many other positions over the years.  He was granted Life membership because of his years of devoted service to the Chapter.  He was currently serving as Chapter Dad as well as being appointed as Grand Chapter Dad in 2022-2023.  He served  on many Grand Chapter Committees but no doubt his greatest honor was to serve as Grand Escort to his  wife Virginia Lynn Green, Past Grand Matron of Texas in 1992-93.

He was surrounded by family and friends in his last days.  His smile and charming wit, along with his gentlemanly ways will be sorely missed by all those who knew and loved him.

There will be a funeral service with Masonic and Eastern Star Honors held at 1:00PM, Friday, December 16th in Williams Memorial Chapel; with the family accepting visitors from 11:00AM to 1:00PM. Burial to follow at Grove Hill Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.
