It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Evelia Perez Varela, who entered eternal rest on July 21, 2026. She was born on April 26 in Dallas, Texas.

Evelia was a proud St. Ann School alumna and graduated from Bishop Dunne Catholic School, Class of 1970. The lifelong friendships and values she gained during her school years remained an important part of who she was.

Evelia shared a beautiful marriage of 55 years with the love of her life, Joe Victor Varela. Together they built a life centered on love, faith, and family. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother to Nicole(David), Joseph (Cynthia), and James(Maria), and a proud grandmother to eight cherished grandchildren, who brought her endless joy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Seferina and Enrique Perez, and her sister, Leticia Trejo. She is survived by her beloved husband, her children and grandchildren, and her sisters, Maria Cristina(Tony) and Dolores Cervantes, along with many extended family members and dear friends who will forever treasure her memory.

Evelia proudly retired from the City of Dallas after many years of dedicated service. She will be remembered for her kindness, strength, generosity, and the unconditional love she gave to everyone around her. Her warm smile, caring heart, and unwavering devotion to her family will never be forgotten.

Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that she is now at peace. Her love and legacy will continue to live on in the lives of all who knew and loved her.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
