Janet Elaine Sanders Phelps, aged 92, passed away on July 30 from complications due to cancer. 

 Elaine was born on October 1, 1930, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  She graduated from Waco High School in 1947.  She went on to study at Baylor University where she met her future husband, Jack Phelps. 

 Elaine and Jack married and moved to Garland, Texas in 1950 where they had and raised five children: Lynn, Lee, Leslie, Louise, and Libby.  The Phelps family regularly attended First Baptist Church of Garland, where Elaine served in the nursery and church office. 

 Elaine was a stay-at-home wife and mother while the children grew up.  In her later years, she attended Richland College and then began her own career.  She went on to work for H&R Block for close to 30 years. 

 Elaine loved baseball season and was a huge Texas Rangers fan.  Her other hobbies were knitting and eating chocolate ice cream. 

 Elaine is preceded in death by Jack Alfred Phelps, husband; Lynn Elaine English, daughter; Leslie Fred Phelps, son.  She is survived by Lee Annette Phelps, daughter; Louise Phelps Pettigrew, daughter; Libby Phelps Odom, daughter; Jack Legrand English, son-in-law; Marilyn Hyden Phelps, daughter-in-law; eight grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. 

 The family would like to thank everyone for their love and support over the last several months.  They would also like to thank Silver Creek Assisted Living in Garland and Allstar Hospice for the wonderful care they gave Elaine.
