Edwin Arza Leavenworth, III, of Dallas, Texas, passed away Wednesday, March 29 th , 2023 at the Clyde W. Cosper State Veteran's Home in Bonham, Texas. His memorial service will be held at 10am, Friday, April 7 th , at Williams Funeral Directors, 1600 South Garland Avenue, Garland, Texas, 75040. Dr Leighton Flowers will be officiating. Burial will follow at 2pm at Red Oak Cemetery, in Red Oak, Texas. Visitation will be held Thursday evening, April 6 th , from 5pm to 8pm at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Clyde W. Cosper Veteran's Home in Bonham.
Edwin was born November 8, 1943 in Dallas, Texas, to Edwin A. Leavenworth, Jr., and Willie Leona (Mahan) Leavenworth. He graduated from Sunset High School in Oak Cliff in 1961 and attended college at the University of Texas at Arlington. In 1971, he married the former Linda Lee Dirting in Dallas and settled in Irving, Texas. He was employed as a marketing representative with Southwestern Bell Telephone and transitioned in the 1980s to the role of a surveyor for the Public Works Division of the City of Dallas. Prior to retirement, Edwin expanded his vocation into both organic farming and pastoral care. He maintained a 66-acre farm selling organic produce to Whole Foods Market and also enjoyed raising goats. He pursued ministerial training at Criswell College in Dallas and served bi-vocationally and as a volunteer in several local Baptist churches.
Ed was a faithful and committed husband and father who modeled loyalty, service, faith, and hard work to his family. He is survived by his wife, Linda Lee (Dirting) Leavenworth, his two biological children, Laura Rebecca (Leavenworth) Flowers and husband Leighton Charles Flowers, and Russell Parke Leavenworth and his wife Kristy Leavenworth, and his adopted son, Rian Ronald (Boggs) Leavenworth and wife Barbie Leavenworth. His grandchildren include Colson Russel Flowers, Cooper Leighton Flowers, Esther Lauren Flowers, Caden Charles Flowers, Brayden Parke Leavenworth, Austin Parke Leavenworth, Bailey Leavenworth, and Kalaijah (KJ) Leavenworth.
