Edward Hays

1938- 2023

Edward Lee Hays, age 84, of Garland, Texas, passed away on Friday, January 13, 2023, in Dallas, Texas. He was born in Hot Springs, Arkansas on January 25, 1938, to Floyd and Louise Hays.

He graduated from Hot Springs High School in 1956 and went on to graduate from Henderson State University in 1962 with a degree in Mathematics. Ed married Jo Ziegler on December 12, 1958, in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Ed and Jo later moved to Garland, Texas where they raised three daughters (Gina, Dana, and Nora). During his time in Texas, he worked for several companies, including Fidelity Union, Allianz, and CSC before retiring in 2009. He was actively involved in the Barnabas church group at First Baptist Church, Garland and enjoyed his years singing in the church choir.

Ed is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Louise; his wife, Jo; and brother, Floyd Jr. Ed is survived by his children, Gina, Dana, and Nora; his sisters, Carol and Maelu; and his grandchildren Ian, Julia, Ashleigh, and Ryan.

A Memorial service will be held at 2:30 pm on Saturday, January 28, 2023, in the Chapel at First Baptist Garland with Pastor Jack Schmid officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the ceremony beginning at 1:30 pm. Ed will be buried at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Hot Springs, Arkansas next to his wife, Jo Ziegler Hays.
