Edward Calvin Balka

On Thursday, November 21, 2024, Edward Calvin Balka
stepped out of time and into eternity. Born in Dallas, TX on
February 26, 1931 he was the son of Otto and Anna Marie
Balka. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death
by his wife of 67 years, Gladys Faye Balka, and his brother,
Herman Balka. Mr. Balka was a beloved husband and uncle.
He served in the United States Marine Corps. He worked as
a flight instructor in his youth. He later became a Certified
Public Accountant and served as the Comptroller for Teledyne Geotech. He was a
member of First Baptist church of Garland, TX, and served the Lord faithfully there
as a deacon. In addition, he was an active member of the church choir at First
Baptist Church in Dallas for over 20 years and served as a deacon there under W.A.
Criswell. He is survived by his niece, Renee' Balka; nephew, Michael Balka; and
niece, Denise Hosack. A committal service will be held Tuesday, November 26,
2024 at 10:30 AM at Restland Cemetery in Dallas, TX. A memorial service will be
held following the committal service at 12:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Garland,
TX. Flowers can be sent to First Baptist Church of Garland for the memorial service
or Restland Cemetery for the committal service. Memorial donations may be sent to First Baptist Church of Garland, TX in memory of Edward Calvin Balka.
