Duwain D. (D.D.) Luckie was born July 14, 1930 in San Angelo, Texas to Doyle and Inez Luckie. D.D. started working in the family business at the age of 4.
On November 24, 1948, D.D. and Betty were married in Orange, Texas.
In 1950, his first son, Tony, was born.
In 1953, his second son, Stan, was born.
In 1956 the Luckie family, along with Darrow Garrick, a young family friend known as Teak, moved to Dallas.
In 1957, they purchased a house in Oak Cliff where D.D. and Betty raised their sons.
D.D. owned bowling alleys, an outdoor advertising company, helped charter several banks, and was a partner in two helicopter companies that operated airships in Mexico and Alaska.
D.D. and Betty were married for 70 years and spent many memorable anniversaries at the Hotel Monteleone in New Orleans where they became known as the "love birds" by the hotel staff.
D.D. had a positive impact on many people that he knew along his journey of life and was a man of great character.
He was loved by his family and will be greatly missed.
