James Doyle Conaway, 80 years old from Garland, Texas died on September 28, 2023 in Garland, Texas.

He was born in Abilene, Texas in 1943 to O.R. and Hazel Conaway. He enjoyed fishing and being with his family as well as making people laugh.

He graduated from Abilene high school. Shortly after graduating he enlisted in the army where he was sent to work at West Point in the phone office as a Spec 5.

In 1967 he began working for Western Electric, after being at Western Electric he worked for many telephone companies over the years as an electrical engineer manager.

He retired in 1987 from his many years of being in the telecommunications world.

During his retirement he worked doing volunteer work for Habitat for Humanity and his favorite group, Gods Old Geezers.

He was an advocate for the Alzheimer's Association, where he participated in an experimental study.

He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings with their spouses as well as nieces and nephews.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years of marriage to Monnie Conaway.

Visitation: Tuesday night on October 3rd, from 6 to 8 at Williams funeral home in Garland, Texas

Celebration of Life: Wednesday, October 4th, 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, Garland, Texas

Burial: Thursday, October 5 at 10:30 a.m. at the Dallas, Fort Worth National Cemetery
