Born on December 4, 1939, Donald was a man's man, willing himself from a poor, rural post-WWII upbringing and despite having a limited formal education, became successful entrepreneur. He had to leave school early to help support his family and eventually thrived in various business ventures including milk and ice cream delivery, RV and van remodeling and eventually real estate development.
Donald was a devoted member of Lakepointe Church in Garland, where he found a community of faith and fellowship. His personal life was truly marked by his dedication and commitment to his wife and family. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Sue Thompson; children and their spouses Mitchell and Dorthie Thompson , Lesa and Jessie Yates, and Wesley Thompson; and grandchildren, David and John Thompson, Amanda Thompson-Copeland, Ashley and Brett Yates, and finally, Alan Jack Thompson. Donald was also a proud great-grandfather to Makkedah Jo, Jennifer, Jayden, Annevelle, Jackson, Aria, Erin, Emma, and Naomi.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis Thompson Sr. and Ada Campbell-Thompson; siblings, Curtis Jr., Thuron Ray, Betty Anderson, Mary Potts, and Glenda Pettit; and several in-laws, nieces and nephews, including a grandchild, Jennifer Thompson, and a great-grandchild, Alexander Yates.
Donald's life story is really about a man that was unwilling to settle; he pulled himself up by his bootstraps through perseverance and an unrelenting work ethic. His greatest success and true riches can be seen in his loving and ever growing family. He will be missed by all that were blessed to know him.
