Donald Curtis Potts, age 72, of Dallas, Texas, passed away on March 18, 2026. He was born on August 29, 1953, in Dallas, Texas, to Curtis Fenton Potts and Gloria Don Stockard Potts.

Donald grew up in the Oak Cliff area of Dallas and graduated from Kimball High School. He later attended Dallas Baptist University and Mountain View College followed by entering the workforce.  On September 10, 1977, he married Brenda Kemp Potts, and together they built a life rooted in faith, commitment, and service that would span nearly 49 years.

Donald's life was defined by his faithful service to Jesus Christ. He attended Hampton Place Baptist Church from birth until 1992.  During that time, beginning in 1977, he served alongside his wife, Brenda, at Bartimaeus Baptist Temple in Pleasant Grove for 49 years until he died. His ministry touched many lives through his involvement in bus ministry, serving as a music minister, teaching children's Sunday School, mowing church grounds, transporting individuals with disabilities, and meeting the needs of others with quiet consistency. Following the move of his family to Sachse, Texas in 1992, he also faithfully attended Garland First Church of the Nazarene where he participated in weekly fellowship, study, and service.  Donald and Brenda often joined events with the Dallas Christian Fellowship of the Blind, helping in the usual ways of offering an arm to guide, food to share, a safe ride, and a little entertainment with his unique humor.   Donald exemplified a life of simple obedience and fellowship, demonstrating his faith through action rather than words.

He worked diligently throughout his life, holding positions at Texas Instruments, DSC Communications, Garland Independent School District Bus Transportation, and Sanmina Corporation, from which he retired in July 2024.

Donald was truly one of a kind. He was goofy, silly, and wonderfully unique—a class clown and punster whose humor was both memorable and impossible to fully describe. He was someone you had to experience. At the same time, he held a deep reverence for God and His Word, living out his beliefs through faithful service.  He was appreciated by those who understood his humor and personality, and he remained steadfast in his convictions, habits, and personal standard. A true creature of habit, his repeating of his favorite lines was often a barometer of whether he was having a good day or not.  Though often strong in his opinions, he was willing to listen, reflect, and take ownership when needed.

He also found joy in food, music, worship, watching Texas Rangers games, and listening to talk radio. He grew up enjoying The Three Stooges, Foghorn Leghorn, Jerry Lewis, and the Pink Panther movies. He enjoyed I love Lucy and the humor of Justin Wilson the Cajun Chef, often quoting his catchphrases because he really enjoyed trying to make others laugh. He would diligently plan family camping trips at the kitchen table, carefully mapping routes with a Mapsco long before modern navigation tools. These camping trips created fond memories, family fun, and quality time in God's good creation.

Donald showed his love not through grand words, but through consistent actions—his dedication to his wife, his commitment to his family, and his faithful service to the Lord and the church.  Though imperfect in his actions as all are imperfect, his life leaves behind a legacy of devotion, sacrifice, and steadfast faith.

He was preceded in death by his father, Curtis Fenton Potts; his mother, Gloria Don Stockard Potts; and his aunt and uncle, Billie Jean Stockard Fry and Billy Fry.

He is survived by his dedicated wife of nearly 49 years, Brenda Kemp Potts; his children, Jason Potts and wife Jami of Wylie, Texas; Rebekah Potts of Wylie, Texas; and Sarah Turnipseed and husband William of McKinney, Texas; and his precious grandchildren, Addison, Braden, and Carson Potts. He is also survived by his dear cousins: Dan Fry and wife Elaine of Waxahachie, Texas; David Fry and wife Rhonda of Waxahachie, Texas; and Kathy Lamb and husband Jerry of Midlothian, Texas, along with many close friends and church family from over the years.

A public viewing and funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at William's Funeral Home in Garland, Texas. Viewing will begin at 12:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 1:00 PM. A procession will follow to Laurel Land Memorial Park in Dallas, Texas for interment.

Donald Curtis Potts will be missed, but his legacy of faith, service, and dedication will continue to live on by the grace of God in those who follow his example of a changed life following the decision to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
