Obituary

Dennis Harroll Watts was born November 24th 1961 in Abilene Texas to Harroll Watts and Jewel Beth Cook. Anyone who knew Dennis would say he had the biggest heart in the world and cared deeply for his friends and family. Friendships were one of the most important things to Dennis. He was extremely proud of the fact that he remained friends with a lot of people from grade school. He was the kind of person that made lasting impressions on others. You were lucky to have Dennis as a friend. You both might wind up in jail, but what's the fun in playing it safe… He lived his life like there's no tomorrow.

Dennis was an incredible artist from a young age and continued his passion throughout his life. Those that received portraits from him are extremely fortunate. He was a talented musician and loved shredding on his guitar with friends and going to local shows. Dennis laughed a lot. Often at himself and sometimes at the expense of others. There was never a dull moment with him and if you needed a shoulder to cry on, an ear to listen, or words of encouragement, he was your guy.

Dennis was a thrill seeker. From sky diving, bungee jumping, scuba diving, riding roller coasters, and joyriding on his Harley, he loved living life fast. The most thrill seeking activity he loved was riding bulls. He was a proud & fearless bull rider and rode both in high school and in college at Tarleton State University. He always said there was no greater rush of adrenaline than getting on the back of a bull.

Dennis was a fantastic cook. Although it took him several years to not get mad enough to throw the hot pan against the wall when he overcooked the steaks, he gained wisdom through perseverance. His skill in the kitchen was unmatched and he took pride in being the one to prepare the delicious family holiday dinners.

Dennis was an eloquent writer. He had a natural talent with words and expressing himself through writing. Hopefully his daughters are doing him justice by writing his obituary, but we could really use his keen eye to help make it even better. Kirsten and Erika were the joys of his life. When they were all together you never knew the trouble they'd get into. He taught them to have fun, not take themselves too seriously, and laugh at farts. He was known to clear rooms with his own all while having a shit-eating grin on his face. In all seriousness, he was patient and a great listener. He always helped with homework late at night and made school projects fun. He impressed upon his daughters the importance of being their genuine authentic selves.

It doesn't feel right to condense Dennis' life into a few sentences. Anyone that knew him would agree. He was complex, complicated, and flawed. Dennis was headstrong and stubborn. God help you if you didn't agree with him. He was also selfless, genuine and heartwarming. He was the life of the party and will take on that role in heaven with his buddies that preceded him. We know he is rocking out in the clouds with Tommy Hiett and Eddie Van Halen. Dad, now's the time to get back on that bull like you've always talked about doing. There's no pain in heaven when that bull bucks you off so you better hold on for 8 seconds! He is survived by his parents, sister Gina, two daughters Kirsten and Erika, and his beloved cat Lzzy.
