Obituary

In Loving Memory of Delfina Rodriguez

It is with profound sorrow and deep gratitude that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Delfina Rodriguez, who peacefully entered eternal rest on February 18, 2026, at the age of 76. Delfina was born on December 24, 1949, in Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico, to Carmen Rodriguez Cruz and Aniseto del Angel. At the age of 20, she immigrated to Texas to begin a new chapter that would define a lifetime of resilience, sacrifice, and love.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carmen Rodriguez Cruz and Aniseto del Angel; her grandparents; her sister, Santa Gutierrez; and her beloved grandson, Juan Garay.

Delfina was a devoted daughter, loving mother, proud grandmother and great-grandmother, and a faithful partner. Her greatest joy was her family. She poured herself into her children and grandchildren, always putting their needs before her own. A woman of deep faith, strength, and humor, Delfina was known for her kindness, generosity, wisdom, and the ability to make others laugh even during difficult times. She lived through decades of change and challenge, yet she remained steady, hopeful, and strong.

When life placed obstacles in her path, she created opportunities. After being laid off later in life and struggling to find work, she turned her determination into entrepreneurship. In the 1970s, seeing the need in her community where many parents worked long hours and there was no school bus service, she started a neighborhood school ride service. What began as a simple solution became a trusted lifeline for many families. Mothers knocked on her door, knowing their children would be safe with her. Her hustle, compassion, and work ethic made a lasting impact on her community.

She is survived by her former husband, Juan Rodriguez, and her six children: Juan (Laura), Ricardo (Monica), Valentina (widowed of Jaime), Daniel (Veronica), Angelica, and Antonio Rodriguez.

She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Michael and Matthew Rodriguez; William Barnes and Marissa Rodriguez; Richard, Angel, Adrian, and Valorie Rodriguez; Junior, Osbaldo, and Yazmin Garay; Jonathan, John-Paul, and Fatima Rodriguez; and Janette Rodriguez; along with her beloved great-grandchildren.

Delfina is also survived by her siblings Alfonso, Javier, Jesse, and Lourdes Rodriguez, along with many extended family members and friends who loved her dearly. Her legacy is one of perseverance, faith, sacrifice, laughter, and unconditional love. Though our hearts are broken, we are grateful for the 76 beautiful years we were blessed to call her ours. Her strength lives within us, and her love will guide us forever.
