Dee Ann Benson died in her sleep in the morning of August 1, 2024, at 95 years of age, while in hospice care at Legend Oaks rehabilitation center in Garland, Texas.

She is survived by her three sons, David, Robert, and Mark Benson; and grandchildren: Mikey, Madison, Rachel, John, and Andrew; and Daughters-in-law, Sharon, Belinda, granddaughter-in-law, Jennifer; and grandson-in-law, Braxton, all who live in Texas.

Dee Ann and her family became residents of the Dallas area after moving from Kansas City, Kansas in 1972.

Her occupations included training and serving as an orthodontist assistant, substitute high school teaching, and serving as "Den Mother" to a Cub Scout troop in Conroe, Texas.

In Dallas, Dee Ann worked under Pastor W.A. Criswell at First Baptist Church in a variety of roles, such as in the publications department and in telecommunications.

She was later employed by Republic Bank for 20 years, until its renaming permutations re-dubbed it, Bank of America, from where she retired in 1994.

Next, she was employed by Richland College in the Emeritus program serving seniors and international students at the college for several years until her second retirement in 2018.

According to her life journal's memoirs, she became a Christian believer at 12 years of age at a Church of God in Kansas City, Missouri.

Then she served in various ministries over the span of her life including singing in church choirs in communities from Missouri to Kansas, and Texas.

Her hobbies included bookmaking and card arts, painting, calligraphy, and quilling. In her earlier years, she painted murals for special church missions' events. She also became a crafts docent for several seasons at Old City Park in Dallas.

And as a dancer, she took line dancing classes a la her mother Anna, who practically lived for dancing.

After retirement she enjoyed occasional boating, fishing, swimming, and bicycling at her lakeside cabin off of Lake Bob Sandlin in Pittsburg, Texas. And during her three sons' childhood years, Dee Ann had taught them baseball, bowling, and tennis.

She loved to travel and over the years, vacationed in Kenya, Hawaii, Holland, Italy, Bahamas, Costa Rica, and in the states, areas of Texas, Florida and California.

Her viewing service is scheduled for 1:00pm on Sunday, August 4 at Williams Funeral Services in Garland, Texas.
