Debbie Montague passed away peacefully on April 13th, 2025, at the age of 69, following an extended period of declining health.

A devoted educator and lifelong learner, Debbie dedicated more than 40 years to teaching middle school science—primarily sixth grade—after graduating from the University of Houston. Teaching was not just her profession; it was her calling. She poured her heart into her work, often spending countless hours preparing lessons before and after school, on weekends, and through the summer. Her passion for education left a lasting impact on generations of students.

Debbie was born on May 5, 1955, in Emporia, Kansas, and lived in various places throughout her childhood due to her father's career in the oil industry. She graduated from Mary Carroll High School in Corpus Christi and began her college journey at College of the Mainland—where she met the love of her life, Bill Montague—before transferring to the University of Houston, where she earned her degree in education.

Above all, Debbie was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her love for her sons, Ty and Ryan, was unconditional and unwavering. She was immensely proud of the men they became and poured the same deep, enduring love into her role as "Nana" to her three grandsons—Jameson, Tripp, and Cash. They were her pride and joy, and she never missed a chance to tell a story, share a photo, or brag about their latest milestones.

Debbie also had a special place in her heart for animals. Whether it was a rescue dog, a neighbor's cat, or a random stray, she had a natural gentleness and warmth that animals were drawn to—just like people.

She is survived by her loving husband, Bill Montague; sons Ty and Ryan Montague; daughter-in-law Lacey Montague; and grandsons Jameson, Tripp, and Cash Montague. She also leaves behind her sister Pam Adams; brother Mark Anderson, his wife Katrina and their daughters Meagan Davis, married to Robin Davis and Morgan Anderson; Mary and Archer Coppedge; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family, all of whom she cherished deeply.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Debbie's memory to Garland First United Methodist Church.
