Deborah Ann Popnoe, beloved sister and aunt passed away peacefully on Friday, September 29, 2023. Deborah was loved dearly and will be missed. We will remember her giving spirit and how deeply she loved and cared for others. During the last few years before she was admitted into care, she was often found in the prayer room at First Baptist Garland, sending notes of support and offering prayers for those in need.

Deborah was born in Fort Worth, Texas on July 14, 1957, to Norma Jean Popnoe and Carney William Popnoe, Jr. She grew up in Garland, Texas, attending Southgate Elementary, Obanion Junior High and graduating from South Garland High School in 1975. Deborah took tap dancing and ballet from Clompton Dance Studio in Garland and competed in synchronized swimming for a number of years. She was an avid piano player having taken lessons from Nan Grantham over 10 years. Deborah sang in the church choir at First Baptist Garland and Showboaters at South Garland HS. She was also a Dixie Darling during her first year at SGHS. She attended First Baptist Church throughout her formative years, being involved in the youth group and choir, travelling to Mexico and Washington DC on mission trips. Deborah studied at Baylor University and graduated from Dallas Baptist University with a degree in business. She worked for Alyeska Pipeline Company, where she worked on the North Slope at Prudhoe Bay. During this time she received a certificate for crossing into the Arctic Circle. Deborah worked a number of years as Marketing Manager at Nortel and Sales and Marketing Rep with the family business, D&J Advertising. Deborah also used her marketing and management skills to assist various charities over the years.

Deborah became involved in Dallas County Young Republicans after college where she served as President of this group and attended the Presidential Inauguration of George Bush Senior. During this time she was asked to serve as a jury member for documentary of the fictitious trial Lee Harvey Oswald being filmed in England. Deborah traveled throughout the United Kingdom and many countries in Europe but her favorite place to visit was Big Bend National Park in Texas. Deborah was also an active member at Park Cities Baptist Church and a honorary member of the Womens' Study Club.

Deborah is preceded in death by her parents, Carney W. Popnoe, Jr and Norma Jean Popnoe.

Survivors include her siblings, Cynthia Popnoe-Hoad and husband Neil S. Hoad, Dana van Ormer, Carney W. Popnoe III, nieces, Sara Jean Popnoe and Blythe Denali van Ormer, her Aunts and Uncles, Leah Lumeada Edelman King, Dahl Edelman, Lloyd Edelman and wife Vicky Edelman.

The family would like to thank everyone for their love, support, and kind words but a special thanks goes out to Deborah's life long friends who have shown immeasurable kindness and support during Deborah's illness and with her passing: Debra Moulthrop, Nancy Jackson, Laurie Tharp, Nina Foley, Vicky Lytle, Janie Bryant, and Karen Grady.
