David Mashburn, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend passed away on September 14, 2026 after a prolonged illness. Born on March 20, 1962 in Dallas, Texas, David brought joy and warmth to those around him throughout his life.
David was the cherished son of the late Wayne and Patricia Shackelford. He is survived by his devoted wife, Renah, whom he married on August 21, 2004 and his children Jennifer (husband Andrew), Austin, and Victoria. His love and laughter will forever be remembered by his grandchildren, Gunner, River, Hadlee, Sadie, Hope and Cole as well as his three nephews and one niece. David’s sister, Winona, and her husband Johnny also survive him, cherishing the memories of their brother. David shared a special bond with his grandson, Gunner— it was as if God placed Gunner directly in David’s care to love and cherish.
A proud graduate of South Garland High School in 1980, David dedicated 40 years of his career to Motion Industries as a sales representative. His colleagues admired him not only for his dedication, but also for his infectious enthusiasm and genuine kindness.
David was a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers, reveling in the camaraderie and excitement that sports brought into his life. From 1992 until his illness began in 2020, David found immense joy in coaching youth baseball. He had the privilege of guiding and mentoring his nephews and grandson, along with many other young athletes in the Garland Rowlett area. His dedication to the sport and to the young players he coached was unwavering.
A known health enthusiast, David took great pride in maintaining his well-being, visiting the gym daily. His quick wit, radiant smile, and zest for life made him the life of any gathering, endearing him to all who knew him. Above all, David loved his family deeply, and they were always at the center of his world.
A celebration of David’s life will be held on September 23, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Williams Funeral Home in Garland, Texas. Family, friends, and whose lives he touched are invited to gather to honor and remember him.
David’s legacy of love, laughter, and dedication to family and community will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
