Obituary

David Marcus Bennett went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 in Dallas.  Dad was a loving father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather "Double G" and friend.

David was born August 5, 1945 in McKinney, Texas to Jimmie Elzie Bennett and Gloria Keeran Bennett.  He graduated with honors from Bryan Adams High School in 1964. In October 1964, Dad met Pama Louise Boswell on a blind date and by Christmas they were planning marriage.  At 19 years old, Dad wed Mom, the love of his life, on July 12, 1965.

David worked at Telsco Industries for over 35 years, after hearing about the job through his Uncle Leroy.  At 20 years old, Dad unloaded trucks, swept floors and fixed equipment. In addition, for over 12 years, Dad worked at the Tom Thumb in East Dallas – serving as the evening Produce Manager. During these years, Dad moved up at Telsco - working extremely hard to provide for his wife and growing family. He eventually served as a senior manager at Telsco, holding the title of Superintendent of Manufacturing.

A longtime member of Ferguson Road Baptist Church, Dad taught Sunday school in the youth department, served as a deacon, held numerous leadership roles including Chairman of the Deacons, and spent countless hours happily maintaining the facilities.  In recent years, he joined Lake Pointe Church in East Dallas and loved serving others by making coffee, sharing his love for the Lord, and witnessing to others. David was a lifelong Christian servant and leader.  His family and friends will miss David immensely but find great comfort in knowing he is home with his Lord and Savior.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests gifts be made in David's honor to The Gideons International. Family contact for questions or correspondence:  Lynda Bennett Bruffett at lyndabruffett11@gmail.com.  Thank you!
