Cornelia Yvonne
Harp
Sep 4, 1941 — Aug 14, 2025
Garland
Cornelia (Connie) Yvonne Harp was born on September 4, 1941, in Liberty Hill, Texas and went to rejoice with her Lord and Savior after her passing on August 14, 2025, at the age of 83. She spent the first 11 years of her life in the Hill Country of Texas in various cities and then moved to Calera, OK after the passing of her father. When she was 13-year-old, she met the love of her life Loyd. Loyd and Connie were married on May 14, 1959, and moved to Garland, Texas. She was a stay-at-home mom until the late-1970's and then went to work for Blue Cross and Blue Shield until her retirement. She was a proud charter member of Calvary Baptist Church where she made many lifelong church friends, worked in the nursery, the church library, sang in the choir, played the handbells and went on many church Mission trips, just to mention a few things.
She was known for her love of God and family. She had a very giving heart and even opened the doors of her home to her children's friends for extended periods of time. She was also very proud of her Chickasaw Indian heritage. She loved to socialize and travel. Her love of travel led her husband to call her part gypsy and she didn't bat an eye, she was always ready to go somewhere. She was a Texas Ranger fan from the time they moved to Texas until the day she passed and would love to watch them on TV and attend games and talk baseball with her kids and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents William Edgar McCoy, Jr. and Berneice Mead (McCoy) Sweeney, her loving husband Loyd Wallace Harp, Leonard Rolfe McCoy (brother) and grandson Timothy Scott Sunderland. She is survived by her brother Oscar Fielding Sweeney of Calera, OK, brother in law Joe Merle Harp and sister in law Linda Mae Plyler both of Durant, OK, children Debra Sunderland of Garland, Rebecca Pursell (husband Jay) of McKinney and Bill Harp of Garland , grandchildren Amanda Boyd, Jennifer Lopez, William Harp, Ryan Pursell and Spencer Pursell, 5 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
