Connie Carolyn Gaines Turley passed away on September 8, 2025, at the age of 96.  She was born on April 10, 1929, in Proctor, Texas to Hamilton Alexander Gaines and Ethel Agnes McCurdy Gaines.  Connie was one of seven children - 3 girls and 4 boys.  This hardworking family grew up on a 220-acre farm where they raised peanuts, watermelons and cotton.  When Connie was 16, the family sold the farm and moved into town.

Connie met George Newton Turley (4 years her senior) when they were growing up in Proctor.  After graduating from Proctor High School, Connie went to work for the telephone company in Stephenville.  George had joined the U.S. Navy and was stationed in Washington State.  While home on leave, George (age 22) and Connie (age 18) got married in a simple private ceremony at their preacher's home on August 1, 1947.  The young couple lived in Washington until George completed his tour of duty in 1948.  They then moved to Dallas where George began a career with Braniff, American Airlines and Ogden Aviation Services as a fuel supervisor.

Their first son, George David Turley, was born on October 24, 1949, in Dallas, Texas.  The family moved to Larry Street in Garland in the early 50's.  On October 12, 1957, their second son, Delmar Dale Turley, was born. In 1958, this young family bought their "forever" home on Sheridan Drive in the Orchard Hills subdivision.  Connie lived in her cherished home for 67 years. The last 3 months of her life were spent in Highland Meadows in Rockwall, Texas.

Connie's life was devoted to her husband, her sons and her grandchildren.  Her second love was gardening and tending to her flower beds and birds.  She was happiest when she could be outside enjoying the simple pleasures and beauty of God's floral and winged creations.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Hamilton and Ethel, her beloved husband of 51 years, George, and all her siblings -Thomas, Laura Ellen, Lois, Jack, Newt and Joe.

She is survived by her 2 sons:  David (wife Nancy) of Rockwall and Delmar of Mount Vernon; 5 grandchildren:  Stephanie Turley, Amanda McCrum (husband Kris), Aaron Turley (wife Lori), Brian Turley (wife Heather) and Kelsey Bowles (husband Tony); 11 great grandchildren:  Ashley Clark (husband Jahmaol), Trey Strong (wife Bailey), Blake Turley, Grace Dunn, Caleb Dunn, Kole McCrum, Reece Turley, Truett Bowles, Raelyn Turley, Kyler Bowles and Jude Turley; and 1 great-great grandchild:  Isaiah Clark.
