Dr. Clifton Edward Dewey, age 64, passed away on November 25, 2023, at Methodist Richardson Medical Center, after a short, hard-fought battle with lung and brain cancer.  He was born January 5, 1959, in Dallas, TX to Latham (Lee) Dewey and Patricia (Johnson) Burnett.  He was a 1977 graduate of North Garland High School and then served in both active duty and the reserves as a Navy Hospital Corpsman Third Class.  He later received his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Dallas with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, and his Doctor of Optometry from The University of Houston.  He owned an optometry practice in Garland and was a lifetime resident of Garland, TX.

Dr. Dewey is survived by his wife of 23 years, Joanna Stenglin Kerns, his son, Latham (Lee) Dewey of Garland, TX, his daughter, Natalie Livedalin of Apex, NC and her husband, Brian, stepdaughter, Lynnsie Kerns Boswell of Georgia and stepson, Brandt Kerns of Anna, TX, along with grandchildren; Evangeline Livedalin, Rowena Livedalin and William Dewey.  Clifton is also survived by his mother, Patricia Burnett, and his sister Lee A. Dewey.  He was preceded in death by his father, L. Lee Dewey.

A committal service is set for 10:15 AM, Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at the DFW National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211.  Visitation for family and friends will be held 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Monday, December 4, 2023, at Williams Funeral Directors, 1600 S Garland Ave., Garland, TX 75040.
