Obituary

Claro Aleman Serna April 16, 1941 – May 24, 2026

Claro Aleman Serna, age 85, passed away peacefully at Richardson Methodist Hospital on May 24, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born in Goliad, Texas, on April 16, 1941, he was the son of the late Hilario Serna and Francisca Aleman Hernandez. He grew up sharing a tight-knit bond with his brother, Hilario Serna II, and his sisters, Francisca Martinez and Leonarda Ramirez. Claro leaves behind a legacy of hard work, deep family devotion, and a legendary competitive streak.

Claro was entirely self-made. He taught himself to be a skilled mechanic and handyman, using his hands and his wits to care for his home. He carried that same grit into his career, working tirelessly for over 25 years as a machine operator at Decker Foods until medical reasons forced his retirement.

For 68 wonderful years, Claro was the devoted husband to Maria, and together they raised six sons. In 1963, to provide for his family, he relocated from Robstown, TX, and proudly made this area his home ever since. While he worked hard to provide for his family, he played hard, too. He loved standing over the grill at family BBQs and never let his boys win easily—whether out on the water fishing or around the pool table, he kept his sons on their toes.

As competitive as he was, his heart melted completely for his grandchildren. He loved talking about them to anyone who would listen. When he wasn't with his family, you could often find him happily enjoying a lively game of bingo.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Maria; his six sons and their wives: Claro Jr. and Catherine, Carlos, Clyde and Hollie, Candelario and Yolanda, Cirildo (Sid), and Clarence. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews; his cherished grandchildren: Nathan, Nikki, Anthony, Corey, Levi, Tegan, Tristan, Joelle, and Jonathan; his numerous adored great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.

Visitation will be  Friday, June 5, 2026, from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM at Williams Funeral Home with a funeral service at 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 6, 2026 at Williams Funeral home,  followed by a procession to the cemetery for the burial. Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, 4400 N. Beltline Rd., Sunnyvale, TX 75182

In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution box will be set up at the visitation and funeral service for "Claro's Headstone Fund". Flowers are beautiful for a short amount of time, but his headstone is everlasting.
