Our mother passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at the age of 95. She was born Christine Nelva Jo Slayter on September 3, 1927, to William Nicholas Slayter and Cora Versie Elliott

Mother learned at an early age that work was essential.  She worked multiple jobs and saved enough to buy her parents a home.  Although she didn't think that she was very smart, she went from being a 'soda jerk' at Garland's Payne drug store to spreading fabric at a clothing manufacturer, to making patterns for those clothes, to designing clothes.   She was the most consistent and hardworking lady that we've ever known.   And as if that wasn't enough, with God's help and guidance, she raised her 2 children on her on.

She was preceded by her 3 brothers and 2 sisters.

She is survived by her son Vaughn Edwin Chavoya, daughter and son-in-law Venita Kay Chambers and Les.  Her grandsons Shane Chavoya, Shaun Chavoya and wife Nicole.  Her granddaughters Crystal Bayless and husband Jeremie, Janaphar Williams and husband Marc.  Her third grandson Jesse Chambers and wife Sarah.   She has 8 great grandchildren Dylon, Blane, Callen, Emily, Liam, Alice, Ethan, and Timothy.

Mother was loved very much and will be missed by all.
