Christa Elizabeth Luise Schrör was born April 20, 1939 in Mannheim, Germany to Robert Martin Heinrich Schrör and Augusta Büchler Schrör in the midst of World War II. The eldest of three, Chris spent a great deal of time with her grandparents while her mother worked to provide food for the family since her father was no longer part of it. As a young adult, Christa was engaged to be married to a man named Hubert, until she began working in the U.S. Army PX where she met Marvin Krumnow who was stationed in Mannheim. Chris called off her engagement, and she and the soldier began a courtship that led to marriage and Christa being sent ahead of her new husband to live in McGregor, TX with his parents whom she had never met. After six months, Marvin was discharged from the army and came home where the two officially started their life together. In June 1962, they welcomed their first son, Ricky Lee Krumnow, and then in October 1965, they welcomed their second and last child, son Steven Lynn Krumnow. The family made their home in Garland, TX where they lived until Chris and Marvin divorced in 1972.

After the divorce, Chris gained independence as she learned how to drive and obtained a driver's license, and she began working for the first time since moving to America. Chris was an accounting clerk at the musical instrument company, Arnold and Morgan for more than twenty years. After that, she gained employment in the payroll department at Stevens Transport where she worked for thirty-two years all the way to the age of 84 when medical necessity forced her to stop on June 1, 2023. She absolutely loved to work and loved her coworkers. Her family always wanted her to retire and relax, but she always said that working kept her going. She enjoyed buying gifts for her friends at work, and she proudly showed them pictures of her family. Chris had three grandsons, Tyler Lee Krumnow, James David Krumnow, and Steven Kyle Krumnow. In 2019, she became a great-grandmother to Parker Rey Krumnow (daughter of Tyler Krumnow) and she was so excited to have a little girl in the family. Chris liked to travel, and she made many trips back to Germany to see family, and as recently as 2016, she took a cruise with her son, Rick, and his wife to Cozumel, Mexico. Chris was an avid slot machine player who enjoyed the thrill even if she did not win big. Chris absolutely loved the holidays, especially Christmas and spending the day with family. Chris remained in the same home for 57 years where the last twelve years, her neighbor, José Olivares, and his family became her second family helping her and including her in family celebrations. She was a strong person who was smart and resilient. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Christa was preceded in death by her mother and father; her brother, Peter Büchler; her son, Steven Krumnow and many family members and friends.

Chris leaves behind her son, Rick Krumnow and his wife, Kathleen; grandsons Tyler Krumnow and his wife, Brittany and their daughter, Parker; grandsons James David Krumnow and Stephen Kyle Krumnow, and many nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the American Cancer Society.
