Cheryl Louise Maynard was born in Denver, Colorado on August 1, 1948 to Delmar and Sybil (Crow) Asbill. Cheryl attended Tahlequah High School in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She excelled at school and graduated from Northeastern State University with a Master of Education.

Cheryl's passion for education and dedication to her family were central to her life. She was a high school math teacher in Edinburg and McAllen, Texas and positively impacted the lives of thousands of students throughout her career. Cheryl loved to continue learning while retired and often took classes at the Apple Store, so that she could stay current with technology. She enjoyed reading the Bible and picking up her grandchildren from school daily. Cheryl said that she had many roles in life: daughter, sister, mother; however, her favorite role of all was grandmother. She will be remembered as selfless and never faltering in her love and focus on her family.

She is survived by Arnold "AJ" Maynard, her husband of 29 years, and her daughter Jennifer Jackson (husband Daniel and grandchildren Luke and Cole), sister Dianne Wyly, sister Marilyn Thompson (husband Bill), brother Paul Asbill (wife Kita), stepdaughter Fonda Edwards (husband Charles and step grandsons Garrie and David Maynard), stepson Ricky Maynard (step grandson Ajay), nieces (Mica Thompson, Rhea Fears) and nephews (Brandon Thompson, Daniel Wyly, Mathew Asbill, Jonathon Asbill, Joshua Asbill).

She is preceded in death by her parents Delmar and Sybil Asbill, her brother Delmar Asbill and beloved sister Bonnie Hathcoat.
