Obituary

On Monday May 8, 2023, Charles Lem Wray, loving husband, and father of two, passed away at the age of 76.

Charles was born in Italy Texas on March 15, 1947. He married Beverly Phillips on August 20, 1966. He proudly served in the United States air force from 1969 to 1973. After his service he began working for Texas Instruments. While at TI he completed his BS in Electrical Engineering from SMU and helped invent some of the first calculators. He retired from TI in 2015. In his spare time, he volunteered for many different organizations. He was a deacon at Allen Heights Baptist church. He spent many weekends volunteering at the Collin County Farm Museum. He taught math for GED students which led him to running the GED program at First Baptist Garland. He loved a great or a bad cup of coffee and had a large group of coffee drinking buddies that would meet daily to solve the worlds problems. The coffee group even adapted to Covid by having virtual coffee meetings. Additional hobbies include camping, ham radio operator, woodworking, home remodeling, tractor repair, electronics, and anything mechanical.

Charles was survived by his wife Beverly Phillips Wray, his dog, Peaches, his two children, Donna Wray Hammar and her husband Michael and David Wray and his wife Val Killinen Wray. Grandchildren Becky and husband Keith, Daniel and Lyly, Emma, Beth, and Grace, and three great-grandchildren Cash, Colten, and Isaac. His surviving siblings include Martha and Larry Norcross, Jack and Jane Goodman, Linda Goodman, Darrell French, Brenda and Jake Escamilla. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Lem Taylor Wray Jr, Emma Neal Hoover Goodman, and Duval Prentice Goodman, and his siblings Bonita French and John Goodman.

Services will be held on Saturday May 27 th 2023 at First Baptist Garland 801 W. Avenue D, Garland Texas 75040 at 11am, in lieu of flowers the family requests that donations are made to benefit the GED program at First Baptist Garland.
