With her timeless beauty, lifetime career success, charitable work, and incredible loving devotion to her friends and family, Carolyn Jean Scheel lived the epitome of a wonderful life.

Carolyn Jean Scheel was born June 25, 1941, to doting parents Eloise and James Porter in Coshocton, Ohio. As a child you could often find her playing piano and singing with her mother while her father played his accordion together, even performing on the radio. While attending high school at Aurora East High School in Illinois she met the love of her life, Laurence Scheel, at the church's New Year party, where she was playing piano in a light blue sweater. Larry's first comment upon laying eyes on her was "Who is that gorgeous blonde with the beautiful blue eyes?" There, history was made. Carolyn and Larry joined in marriage September 8, 1962.

She was a natural leader while working in Farmer's Insurance before starting a lifelong partnership in the McDonald's Franchise. A trailblazer in the women's workforce, she alongside her mother-in-law Cathrine, were among the first women to work at McDonald's and Carolyn was declared equal owner operator to Larry in the operation. Carolyn and Larry were the ultimate teammates winning numerous awards for Management Development, Outstanding Restaurants, Landscaping, and Contributions to the McDonald's Brand.

In 1965 Carolyn was overjoyed to welcome their son Christian and five years later their daughter Laura. McDonalds brought Carolyn and her family to Plano, Texas in 1975. She was a devoted Christian and spent her time at the Richardson Church of the Nazarene (RCN) where she gained many dear friends and continued her devotion to Christ. In this time she sang with 2 Christian musical groups at special performances for multiple other churches. Carolyn spent her lifetime giving back through charities such as the Ronald McDonald House, St Joseph's Indian School, Oklahoma Nazarene College, Garland Schools, and many others. Carolyn also donated a year of her life with her parents in service during her younger years at the Bethany Children's Home in Kentucky.

The couple eventually settled in Garland, Texas where they worked and raised their family. After owning McDonald's for 33 years they retired in 1999. Carolyn enjoyed collecting beautiful antiques, hosting elaborate family events, and travel with her beloved husband which brought her such delight. Her grandchildren, Mackenzie and Addison, and great grands, Elliott Jean and Gemma, were the light of her life.

Her piercing blue eyes could make you feel such emotion and security. Her sense of style, so elegant and height of fashion. Her wisdom vast. You could come to her and all your worries would drift away. Her tenderness for her family came so naturally. The example of love she shared with her husband was unmatched. Her husband Larry often said, "Carolyn changed my life in many ways like no other person could. She made my life better than I could ever have hoped. I think it was love at first sight!"

Visitation will be 6:00PM – 8:00PM Thursday, December 19, 2024 at Williams Memorial Chapel. Funeral service will be 1:00PM Friday, December 20, 2024 at Richardson Church of The Nazarene, 2101 E. Renner Rd. Richardson, Texas 75082. Interment will Immediately follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Rowlett, Texas.
