Carolyn (Caddy) Rose Brownell Smith, 92 years old, of Garland, TX, passed away on December 3, 2023.

Caddy was born on March 16, 1931 to Anne Pearson and Ulysses Grant Brownell, Jr. in New Bedford, Massachusetts. Caddy moved to Cape Cod with her mother as a young child and graduated from Nauset High School in 1949.

On October 7, 1950, she married Cole Smith, Sr. of Topeka, Kansas and moved to Dallas, TX from her Cape Cod home in Eastham, Massachusetts in 1950.   They built a home in Garland, TX where they raised their three children. She volunteered at Garland Memorial Hospital and worked part time as a receptionist for Dr. John Smale. In 1993, she and Cole were divorced. Caddy was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother as well as a caring friend to others. She loved her family and friends very much and loved spending many summers on Cape Cod with the family and friends up until age 85. She was adored by all and was lovingly called Nana or GG by her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Caddy was predeceased by Cole Smith, Sr, her parents, her cherished aunt Isabelle Corson and her uncle Roland Pearson. She is survived by her two sons: Cole Smith, Jr. and wife Vicki and Dean Smith and wife Linda, and her daughter Cathy (Smith) Hovey and husband Emerson, her grandchildren Jessica Blancovich and husband James, Ashley Smith, Isabelle Venable and husband Nathan, Pearson Smith and wife Charity, and Madelyn Smith, and her great grandchildren Emma Blancovich, Cheyenne Venable, Noah Venable, and Charlotte Venable.

In lieu of funeral service, it was Caddy's wish to have her children and grandchildren travel to her beloved Cape Cod to celebrate her life and sprinkle her ashes in the town cove in front of her childhood home.
