Carey Nell "Nana" Peoples, 97, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2025, in Garland, Texas. Born on July 15, 1927, in Fate, Texas, she lived a long and meaningful life rooted in faith, family, and service.

Carey Nell was the beloved daughter of WV and Bertha L. Bratton. She grew up alongside her sister Edna Marie Averre and brothers Orville, JW, Wendell, and Roy Bratton. Throughout her life, Carey Nell remained deeply connected to her roots in Texas and to the values instilled in her from an early age.

A devoted mother,  grandmother, and great-grandmother affectionately known as "Nana" and "Nanny," Carey Nell cherished her family above all else. She is lovingly remembered by her son Gary Lee Peoples and his wife Deanna of Wills Point; daughter Karen Wade and her husband Clay of Wylie; daughter Carolyn Boyles of Sachse; and daughter-in-law Joan Peoples of Krum. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Matthew and Amber Peoples, Carrie and Rick Johnson, Josh Peoples, Mari Peoples, Kristyn and Seth Rowney, Jami and Joshua Mayes, Paxton Wade, Presley Wade, Kellea Darwin, Ashley and Randy Hill, and Cameron Boyles. She was also blessed with thirteen great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and a host of friends who brought immense joy to life.

Carey Nell was preceded in death by her parents; her sister Edna Marie Averre; brothers Orville, JW, Wendell, and Roy Bratton; and her beloved son William Larry Peoples.

Professionally, Carey Nell dedicated many years to serving others through her work with the Garland Independent School District's food services department, retiring at the age of 82 years young.

A faithful servant of the Lord throughout her life, Carey Nell's devotion was evident in both word and deed. Her unwavering faith guided her actions and provided strength during times of hardship. Those who knew her were touched by her gentle spirit and steadfast love for God.

Carey Nell "Nana" Peoples leaves behind a legacy defined by love for family, dedication to service, and a deep spiritual foundation. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
