Steve Brandon Mock, 91, of Garland, Texas passed away on April 3, 2024.

Brandon was born on March 30, 1933, in Roxie, Mississippi to Steve Brandon Mock, Sr. and Mary Katherine Russum. At the age of 15 he and his family moved to the Dallas area and this is where he met Shirley Sue. He married Shirley Sue Bennett on June 29, 1963, at Grace Temple Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas and had two children, Jason Brandon and Amy Elizabeth. While attending school in Roxie, Mississippi, Brandon was a star basketball player in elementary and high school and was a member of the high school band. He studied Horology at Mountain View College in Dallas, Texas. He was a carpenter and cabinet maker for 50 years doing intricate work in millionaire homes. Some of the homes he worked on belonged to Troy Post and Mary Kay along with others. He ended his 63 year work career as a shop teacher at A+ Charter School where he taught students woodworking along with life lessons, home building, furniture repair, and pen making. Brandon began bodybuilding where he ended up entering a physique contest where he was awarded first runner up for the Mister North Texas competition. He also enjoyed bowling, playing golf, swimming, fishing, and hunting. While the children where young, he rebuilt old Volkswagens into dune buggies and many memories were created with the entire family. At the age of 65 Brandon picked up the accordion and joined the Al Tick Band where he ended up playing for several years in restaurants around the area. At 70 Brandon began to take karate classes and by the age of 80 he earned his black belt. He received many trophies for the karate and for using a cane with karate moves as a defense weapon. Soon after coming to Dallas he gave his heart to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and became a member of Lemmon Avenue Missionary Baptist Church. After becoming a member of the church Brandon became assistant Sunday School Teacher where he taught teenagers about the Bible. In 1978 he started volunteering for the Don Heart Ministries. Every Sunday he would wake up at 4:00 am to help cook breakfast for the homeless and after that he would go to church with Mrs. Mock as they were directors of the Children's Work Service. Later he built a puppet stage to enhance their ministry and it continued for 6 years. Brandon became a member of the Dallas Masonic Lodge where he served as Master in 1968. When his son Jason became a Boy Scout Brandon became Assistant Scout Master. One of their proudest moments was building a sled for the Klondike Derby Race with the boys and taking first place! When Jason received the Order of The Arrow Brandon was surprised because he was also inducted to the Order of The Arrow. Brandon missed being a Scout as a boy and he enjoyed the time he spent with Jason. He had wanted to serve in the military, but due to being the sole provider of his mother and sister, he was unable to enlist. Brandon will be remember for many things including his love of President Trump. He enjoyed any campaign humor, including wearing a Trump hat complete with hair. When anyone made a comment, his response was that it kept his bald head warm.

Brandon is survived by his wife, Shirley Sue Mock; son, Jason Brandon Mock, companion, Mendy Winkleman; daughter, Amy Elizabeth Anderton, companion, Jeffery Lee; grandchildren, Ben Anderton, Lainie Anderton, Brianna Anderton, Caleb Lee, Noah Mock, and Nathaniel Mock; 6 great-grandchildren; and his pet, Macie.

Brandon is preceded in death by his grandson, grandchild, Seth McIntosh; parents Katherine and Steve Mock; siblings, Elaine Mock Gulley; June Mock Wilson; and Ruth Mock Bowers; and his beloved pet, Molly.

Pallbearers will be Ben Mock, Noah Mock, Nathaniel Mock, Caleb Lee, Oscar Gonzalez, Sam Gonzalez, and Randy Smith.
