Billy Ray "Schlick" Harris, Sr., 87, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2025. Born on September 26, 1937, in Cooper, Texas, Billy lived a life marked by dedication to his family, faith, and work. He spent most of his career in the furniture industry, working in various roles from deliveries to warehouse management. His commitment to the field spanned over four decades, culminating in his retirement from Weir's Furniture in 2004 after more than 25 years of service.

Billy proudly served his country as a member of the Texas National Guard, where he trained to drive Sherman tanks. In 1961, he was called to active duty by the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Polk in Louisiana for ten months.

A devoted husband, Billy, shared 61 wonderful years with the love of his life, Allyne Thiele. Together, they built a strong and loving family. He was a dedicated father to his three children: Tom (Jane), Bill (Lorrie); and Deanna (Kent Strenger). He was also a cherished grandfather to Andrea Urbik (Adam), Jason Harris (Callie), Heather McSweeney (Jim), Meagan Harris, James Lyall (Bailey), and Dr. D. Casey Carrillo. His legacy extended further through his eight great-grandchildren, who brought him immense joy.  Billy is also survived by his twin sister, Barbara Brown of Quinlan, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Ralph and Bonnie Pickens Harris, as well as his siblings Joe, Thomas "Tink", Jack, Merle Nash, and Eben Charles "Charlie".

A man of deep faith, Billy and Allyne were longtime members of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Richardson, Texas. His belief in Jesus as his Savior guided him throughout his life and shaped the values he shared with others. He lived with integrity and treated everyone with kindness, grace, and unconditional love—qualities that left a lasting impression on all who knew him. Billy had an undeniable passion for sports and was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers. However, nothing brought him greater happiness than spending time with his family. Known for his humor and warmth, he had a special talent for giving nicknames—if you knew Billy well, you had one. His greatest legacy is the example he set through hard work, integrity, and unwavering devotion to those he loved. He taught the importance of adding value to every task undertaken, keeping one's word, and recognizing the worth of every person encountered. His kind-hearted nature and steadfast love for his family will continue to inspire those who were blessed to know him.

Billy's memory will forever be cherished by those who loved him.
