Anna Dewberry passed away peacefully on June 15, 2025, at age 92. She was born November 4, 1932 in Dallas County, to Carl and Gracie Payton and grew up in Rowlett. After graduating high school, she moved to Garland, where she spent the rest of her life.

In 1957, she started working at Kraft Foods in the secretarial pool and rose through the ranks to become the executive secretary to the regional vice president. She was part of a tight-knit group in her office that grew into life-long friendships. Her co-workers and superiors alike had deep respect for her expertise and loved her sharp humor and feisty attitude. When she retired in 1993, after 36 years with Kraft, everyone she worked with thanked her for how helpful and kind she had been to them, and quite a few commented that she was the one who ran the show at the Garland office.

Never one to be idle, she spent her retirement years in service to her community and those in need, often joking about how she was too busy to have a full-time job. Every Tuesday she baked desserts to take to Silver Leaves nursing home, where she cheered up residents who didn't have many visitors. She also volunteered with St. Vincent de Paul to help people in her parish with groceries, rent, and utility bills.

For more than four decades, she was a faithful and beloved member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. Among other things, she was in charge of cleaning the church linens. After years of perfecting her methods, there wasn't any kind of spot or stain that she couldn't get out of the white purificator cloths. She was a fixture at the daily 8 am and Saturday vigil masses. Every year she hosted a much-anticipated Christmas party in her home for her morning mass group.

Most of all, Anna will be remembered for her immense generosity and unwavering faith in Jesus. She was a loving mother and grandmother who always put her family first. Her absence has created a void that cannot be filled and life will never be the same without her.

Anna is preceded in death by her daughter Vicki Braun, sister Hilda Frasier, brother Gerald Payton. She is survived by son David Campbell and wife Sue; daughter Penny Conroy and husband Frank; granddaughter Anna Rice and husband Jason; grandson Carl Braun and wife Hedy; great-grandchildren Noah Anderson and husband John, and Andy Anderson and husband Eliseo; and many more loving family members and friends.

Funeral service will be at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Garland on June 24 at 11 am. A rosary will be prayed at 10:30 am prior to the funeral. A visitation will be held on June 23 from 6-8 pm at Williams Funeral Directors.
