Obituary

Ann A. Anderson-Sabella, 96, passed from this world on December 26, 2020 at Baylor Scott and White-Lake Pointe in Rowlett, Tx.  She was born on June 24, 1924 in Shamrock, Texas to H.B. and Opal Hill.  In 1941 she married her high school sweetheart, John W. (Jack) Anderson, Jr.  While raising three children in Stinnett, Texas, they square danced (Jack was a caller), traveled, went camping and fishing and attended football games and other sporting events.  In 1968 they moved to Lubbock, Texas to open an Insurance Agency.

After Jack passed away in 1989, Ann went back to square dancing in Lubbock, Texas in 1990.  She is a past-president of the Solo Squares Dance Club, a past-president of the Lubbock Federation of Square and Round Dancers, a LeRoy Award recipient from the Texas Federation of Square and Round Dancers (received for outstanding contributions in the forming of the state federation) and a volunteer pioneer dancer at the National Ranching Heritage Center.  She was a member of Westmont Christian Church and sang in the choir.  She loved square dancing and the Texas Tech Red Raiders!  When not attending a Tech football game, she always watched on TV but would listen to the radio announcers because she preferred the local announcers.  She followed all Texas Tech sporting events.

In 1999, Ann met Anthony (Ace) Sabella at a square dance.  They traveled the state of Texas as photographers for the Texas Federation of Square and Round Dancers and enjoyed 7 years together. After Ace passed in 2006 her love of square dancing continued, and she received great comfort from her square dancing friends. She continued dancing until health issues forced her to stop.

Ann is survived by her three children: son Larry and wife Betty, son Donny and daughter Debbie; four grandchildren: Todd Anderson and wife Kristy, Ty Anderson and wife Amy, Blake Anderson and wife Ellen, Kesh Anderson Curtis and husband Taylor; 14 great-grandchildren: Justin, Christopher and Katelyn Anderson, Lilly, Hayden and Evie Anderson, Cooper, Walker, Sawyer, Cort and Bear Anderson and Jack, Anderson and Becket Curtis; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and great-great nieces and nephews and numerous cousins and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the National Ranching Heritage Center or Westmont Christian Church in Lubbock, Texas.
