Obituary

Amada Barboza Niño, affectionately known as Doña Mayo, passed away peacefully at her home on May 16, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on September 13, 1939, in Ahualulco, San Luis Potosí, Mexico, she was the beloved daughter of Ángel Barboza and Martina Niño.

Amada dedicated her life to her family as a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. She shared a full life with her husband, Epifanio Vidales, raising eight children together on their ranch, where they also cared for a variety of animals, including cows, goats, and sheep

Amada had a passion for sewing, often spending her days creating handmade garments with love and precision. She frequently traveled to the United States to visit her children and grandchildren, always cherishing the time spent with family. A devout Catholic and a woman of strong faith, Amada was known for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering support for others. Her warm spirit and joyful presence earned her countless friendships throughout her life.

In 2023, she made the decision to move to the United States to be closer to her family as she started her battle with lung and bone cancer. She faced her illness with strength and was surrounded by the love of her children and grandchildren.

Amada is survived by her eight loving children: Modesto, Gloria, Joel, Guille, Mario, Mari, Elvia, and Saul. Her children-in-law: Alejandro, Dolores, Irene, Saturnino, Rodrigo. She was a proud grandmother to Jairo, Kelly, Selena, Isaac, Alejandro, Orlando, Denise, Anderson, Emanuel, Jorge, Sonia, Kassandra, Temo, Ulises, María del Real, Juliana, Cesar, Kevin, and David. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren: Liam, Memphis, Jaylen, Antea, Alejandro, Danei, Luna Yasel, and Anali.

She will be strongly missed and forever loved by all her family and friends.  Her memory will be a source of strength and inspiration for generations to come.

Rest in Peace Amada Barboza.
